About the Band

The Emporia Municipal Band is one of the longest-running community bands in Kansas, and is still currently funded by the city of Emporia. There have been bands in Emporia for over a century, but the current iteration was founded in 1941 after the local military band was deployed. We are currently in our 82nd season! 

We currently perform 6-7 concerts in the summer on Thursday evenings, starting after Memorial Day, at 8 PM in Fremont Park. All concerts are free to the public!

We also perform as part of the Memorial Day ceremonies at the All-Veteran's Memorial and hold an annual Christmas concert every December.
